Remember Memorial Day
Why remember Memorial Day when it’s actually a memorial? Well, sometimes we forget to remember the actual reason for observing Memorial Day in the first place. Of course, enjoy the long weekend and barbecues and get-togethers, but let’s make sure we honor those who made this great American holiday possible – those men and women who actually died to secure this day.
Originally called Decoration Day, it’s a day when the United States of America brings to remembrance the valiant services of her fallen heroes. Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966.
