Patience is Still A Good Virtue (Napoleon Hill Agrees)!

“Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” ~ Napoleon Hill

My wife and I once attended a 3 days marriage certification course to help couples prepare for marriage. The facilitator was funny and made the class very interesting. I must say we learned a lot and were given valuable tools for the trade.

I’ve been helping couples prepare for marriage using my own framework in the form an acronym (which I plan to turn into a future book). However, this value-added training will help us do an even better job at preparing couples not only for the big day (wedding) but especially for the journey after they say, “I Do!”

What does this have to do with success and achievement?

Very much actually.

The marriage coach/facilitator hammered on the idea of patience before marriage. He noted that premature and hasty marriages had a higher failure rate than those who were patient in getting to know themselves and their perspective spouse.

Entrepreneurs, ministry leaders, and success-minded individuals like you and me can take many lessons from that advice. It’s tempting to rush goals to completion because we greatly desire success (end results) but cutting corners and not learning the process can be detrimental in the long run.

It’s tempting to get angry, complain, or even give up on a goal to lose weight, salvage a relationship, get out of debt, make more money, start a new career, business or ministry, or even establishing better habits when the going gets tough or results seem to be delayed.

It’s also tempting to let laziness, busyness, and bitterness to dampen your spiritual walk with God and diminish your personal or ministry impact.

But at what price?

This is where patience comes in. It is still a virtue because this stellar character trait of being able to wait calmly and expectantly for something, without getting angry or upset, is a hallmark of the truly successful person.

Patience is that inner strength that causes you to persevere and endure hardships. Patience helps you finish what you started and patience will see you through to the finish line.

“The testing of your faith produces patience.” ~ James 1:3

So no matter what you’re pursuing at this moment, if it seems to be taking longer than expected, don’t give in. Don’t give up. Keep sowing. Keep hoping. Keep believing. Keep expecting. And in due season, you will reap, if you faint not.

Have patience!

P.S. You don’t have to go at it alone! The Bible has a lot to say about finances from various angles. You don’t have to be in the dark regarding wealth nor do you have to turn only to secular sources for the final say in regards to managing money.
