Prayer is Truly The Breath of of The Soul!

There’s a plethora of information written on the subject of prayer so I don’t mean to add to the bulk but rather suggest ways of sorting through the heap.

Scholars past and present have served us models, acronyms, short cuts, and other gimmicks to help simplify the subject of prayer yet the average person still does not have an active, meaningful, nor powerful prayer life.

Who still does not ask basic questions like:

What [exactly] is prayer?
How do I get [really] my prayers answered?
How and for what should I pray?
To Whom should I pray?

The list could go on and on. And that's why I'm hosting a weekly webinar all this month to answer these questions, and more. I'll also post a few artilces on this blog to uncover the principles of effective prayers, so stay tuned.

In speaking about prayer and thanksgiving, Paul encourages people of faith to be “watchful to this end with all perseverance” (Ephesians 6:18). Without this vital spiritual discipline, you won’t have a balanced successful life.

As a segway into unraveling the secret mysteries of prayer, lets start witha working definition from Webster’s Dictionary [I’ll give the theological definition in a subsquent post].

For now, the word pray (prayed, praying) means:

1.To offer devout petition, praise, thanks, etc., to God.
2. To make earnest petition to a person [God].
3. To make entreaty to a person [God] for a thing [request, petition, etc.].

Webster defines the word prayer as:

1.A devout petition to or spiritual communion with God.
2. The act of praying.
3. A formula of words used in praying.
4. Something prayed for.
5. A petition; entreaty.

In your own understanding and definition, what do you believe prayer is? Do you think that approaching God as a friend makes prayer simple and easy? Then if it does,

Could it be that we don’t love God enough nor have that close connection with Him why most people seem to experience grave frustration in this arena of life?

Afterall, we do not have to try to twist the arms of friends, try to manipulate them to do what we want, nor be insincere with them. Doing these things to God is therefore proof that we may not really be seeing Him as our friend, Father, or King.
