God’s Word is Sweeter Than Honey
If anyone knew just how much God’s Word is sweeter than honey it was Israel’s beloved King David. He had such intimacy with God throughout his life that Scripture calls him, “A man after God’s own heart“ (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22). This relationship with God led King David to pen many Psalms and ancient wisdom. Perhaps the biggest secret to David’s success was his love for God’s Holy Word and execution of His divine will.
How much do you value God’s Word? Is it sweet like honey to you? Or can you say, like King David, that God’s Word is sweeter than honey? Here are some gems of truth to consider from a Psalm of David (chapter 19:7-1):
7 Ways God’s Word is Sweeter Than Honey:
1. God’s Word is Perfect and Good in Every Way. Therefore, it is a standard and ultimate authority for living a life of total success. It gives us life and renews our soul. (v. 7a)
2. God’s Word is Sure and Dependable. Therefore, you can trust it to lead and guide you in all areas of life. If you read and study it daily, it will make you wise beyond your years. (v. 7b)
3. God’s Word Brings Joy and Gladness. Therefore, your heart can rejoice and be glad knowing that you are walking on the right path of life. (v. 8a)
4. God’s Word is Pure and Holy. Therefore, let your eyes, heart, and mind be enlightened by its radiant splendor. (v. 8b)
5. God’s Word Endures Forever. Therefore, you can have a clean and healthy fear of the Almighty, knowing that His promises will last forever (v. 9a)
6. God’s Word is True and Righteous Altogether. Therefore, you can count on God to uphold His Words by being just and honorable in all that He does and says He will do. (v. 9b)
7. God’s Word is Desirable and Better Than The Finest Riches. Therefore, you will experience great rewards when you heed its warnings and obey its instructions. Then you will experience great rewards for obeying (v. 10, 11)
May you find sweet hope and peace in God’s Word today. As King David would say, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is anyone who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8)
